Throughout the history of money, kings, queens, regents, nobles, merchants, presidents, military, popes, emperors and governments have placed symbols on coins as a way to leave their mark.
“This is my coin!” they all seem to mean.
These symbols are drawings that can be portraits, crowns, coats of arms, crosses, flowers, gods, animals, heroes, and many others. They can celebrate a victory, a new reign, a new currency, and convey important messages.
If you could make your own coin, which design would you choose?
We want to stimulate the creative process and that's why the Money Museum launches a challenge to do at home, alone or with your family!
Get inspired by the euro coins, the Museum Collection and the Treasures of Collection to create a new coin.
